Footprint Introduction
Description: This footprint activity is a great way for doing introductions and to get to know students or classmates. You begin by tracing your foot on any color of construction paper and cut it out. The footprint should include your name that is in legible writing and have objects and drawings to represent your own individual interests. You also need to use 3 different types of media like markers, construction paper, magazines, etc. The overall project needs to be of considerable craftsmanship by being neatly trimmed, objects securely attached, and appropriate spacing. When presenting your footprints explain what each item is and why it is included.
My footprint included: A book because I love to read and also minor in Elementary Reading; a strawberry because it's one of my favorite foods; mountains since I like to travel and hike; heart with family written on it because family is the most important thing to me; flowers because I think flowers are really pretty and sunflowers are my favorite; an apple since I want to be a teacher; a cat because they are my favorite animal; music notes since I enjoy listening to music; and a football and basketball because I like to watch and attend sports games.
Extension Activity: An extension activity for this project could be to use this as a classroom project and have each student decorate a paper puzzle piece. Students could decorate it however they want, whether it's just coloring the entire piece their favorite color or using objects and drawings to express their personality. When completed, the teacher can hang it up on a classroom wall or hallway and eventually will have a completed puzzle. For upper elementary or middle school, students can write a few sentences explaining each piece and why it's important to them.
